July was the a whirlwind of a month! I spent 4 weeks competing the intensive CELTA course and honestly, before starting the course, I really didn’t expect it to be as challenging as it was. I knew that the work load was going to be heavy, but I think I started the month a little big for my boots. I was humbled very quickly and when I called my dad, my go-to therapist for all things stressful, for advice, his wise words were “You can do it but don’t take anything for granted”. This small yet impactful sentence changed the way I approached this course, and I’m extremely grateful that I managed to successfully complete it with a Pass B!
Honestly, I worked so hard to achieve something that I thought would come naturally to me, and it shook me because I thought I was a good teacher! There were points during the course where I was questioning everything I ever knew about teaching, but believing in myself, working hard, and perseverance saw me to the end and over the other side with a giant smile on my face and a huge sense of achievement.
Since that crazy month, I gave myself a little bit of time here and there to “relax” - but how can I really relax when the opening of The English Studio is just around the corner! It’s both incredibly scary and daunting yet overwhelmingly exciting at the same time. The space is basically finished and we just have to wait for the finishing touches before we can get all the furniture up and organised. It feels like I have so much to do… and YES, I am always in a slight panic, but my brain is on overdrive and I have new ideas popping up even in my sleep so, with a little bit of luck and good old fashioned hard work, let’s get everything ready for us to meet again on September 15th!
The date is set. My eyes are on the prize. This is just the beginning of another crazy journey but I can’t wait to keep you updated. The best is yet to come! See you soon.
